All-You-Need-to-Know-about-Instructor-Ed

"Writing is a process like science just as much as art. There is trial, and there is error. There is heart, and there is soul. What there isn't is a lack of bravery. All writing is brave."

—Sterling M.Z.

About Sterling M.Z.

Sterling M.Z. is the author of the upcoming fantasy debut, To Chase a Prophecy. Filled with magic, hidden militaries, and an adventure that will make you long for the outdoors, To Chase a Prophecy is an action-packed ride taken alongside sword-wielding women, strong mentors, and a familiar magic system with a signature, modern twist.

Sterling M.Z. has a long love affair with words. Her short stories have been published in literary magazines, including MeetinghouseProgenitor Arts & Literary Journal, Creation MagazineThe Write LaunchHoneyguide Magazine, North Texas Review, and Havok. In undergrad, she received degrees in English (creative writing) and International Studies and was an intern for the Bull City Film Festival and the Santa Fe Writers Project. Outside of writing, she can (yet again) be found in books, as a freelance editor. And in the fall of 2026, she will be entering graduate school to earn her master's degree in creative writing.

When she is not reading or editing books, she can be found working out, trying new recipes, delving into her new hobbies of clay and weaving, and traveling all over DFW, spending time with her family and friends (especially her once-a-week coffee excursion with her sister).

My Blogs

An editor is not some faceless, soulless person behind a computer screen, but a person who offers up their experiences with writing and reading, both professional and personal. As I write and edit, I've found myself in a unique space to talk about the creative parts of this art form as well as the technical. I post blogs every Writing Wednesday, and have a few fun articles on my other hobbies too!
